26 Feb Nevada Senate Committee Hears Assisted Suicide Bill SB165
February 25, 2019 the Nevada Senate Health and Human Services Committee held a hearing on SB165 – Physician Assisted Suicide. Compassion & Choices had testimony from paid advocates and lobbyists and a few non-paid citizens. Opponents from all across Nevada, called, emailed and showed up to the hearing. Over a hundred citizens signed in opposed to the bill. Kristen Hanson of Patients Rights Action Fund, Nevada’s Dr. Brian Callister, and Marilyn Golden of Disability Rights Education Defense Fund ably testified along with dozens and dozens of concerned Nevadans. The senate committee is stacked in favor of this bill as three of the five committee members are sponsors of SB165. It is unknown when the committee will vote on SB165. Please email Senate HHS members with a simple message: “NO ON SB165.”
